Team building should be fun. This is the first and vital part. It is important not just to be part of the team but to enjoy experience as well. It's better to work with employees that you like and team building can do that.Trough time spent together, people see different, positive side of their coworkers. It's a great way to spend your time and get something useful from it.
Team building helps improving communication between employees and this is crucial for every team. This way we build mutual trust inside of team and increase teams efficiency. We can make better, and more important, completely free communication. More we communicate, more we know about each other and this creates better relations between coworkers. People who work together achieve biggest creativity and productivity in the open atmosphere of communication. There are specially designed games called "ice breakers" and team building events usually start with those activities.
Team building activities outside of office can help us to lower accumulated stress. During that time we learn to develop team spirit, confidence, and a lot more skills for individuals and the whole team. We are preparing for better coping in new situations and taking risks outside of our comfort zone. When coworkers are out together, it's a lot easier to brake down personal, political and all other barriers and just have fun.
To be fun, those events must be adequate for everyone involved. Paragliding, rafting, mountain biking and other extreme sports are not for everyone. So we must choose activities that fit for our team. There is really big choice of activities for for everyone's taste and skills.
Learning to work as a part of the team can benefit a lot to our company and bring better results, but it can also change the way how we function in society. It can teach us to improve our private relationships, friendships and family as well.To have better working environment, we create atmosphere of healthy competition, where we encourage cooperation and communication. Without all this, it will be harder to reach our project's goals.
